The Environmental Science and Climate Change Division is responsible for the environmental review of major projects, monitoring the air and water resources of New Brunswick, addressing climate change mitigation and adaptation, policy direction and legislative agenda development for the department. It provides scientific assessment and environmental protection advice and reports on the state of the environment, leads initiatives promoting the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and the adaptation to impacts of climate change, develops programs and policies, and provides technical, scientific and engineering support. This includes interpreting, evaluating and maintaining awareness of research and developments in environmental health and climate issues and initiatives on behalf of the department. The division consists of the following branches: Climate Change and Sciences, Environmental Impact Assessment, Healthy Environments, Policy, and Strategic Policy Initiatives.

What will you do?
As a member of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Branch and reporting to the Branch Director, you will, among other things:
- Coordinating EIA Reviews involving multiple agencies at the federal, provincial and Local Government level;
- Developing environmental assessment guidelines as applicable;
- Reviewing environmental protection plans;
- Following-up on Conditions of EIA approval in cooperation with the Follow-up and Compliance Coordinator;
- Maintaining effective relations with other government departments, First Nations, Stakeholders and the public;
- Supporting the development of standard operating procedures, sector specific guidelines, criteria for mitigative measures and other applicable management frameworks associated with the implementation of the Environmental Impact Assessment Regulation, and
- Undertaking field work as necessary.

Essential qualifications
University degree in Environmental Science, Applied Science, Engineering, Land Use Planning or other related disciplines and a minimum of six (6) years of related work experience in environmental management, environmental impact assessment or project management related to environmental issues is required.
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
Written and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability.

Asset Qualifications
Preference may be given to candidates that demonstrate one or more of the following asset qualifications:
- Experience in policy development and/or First Nation, stakeholder and/or public communication and consultation.
Operational Requirements
Travel throughout the province is required occasionally. A valid Class 5 driver's license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick is required.
Occasional work outside of regular business hours.

Wage
Pay Band 6: $3,021 to $4, 019 bi-weekly, based on 36.25 hours per week.
Work environment
- Office location: 20 McGloin (Marysville Place), Fredericton.
- Standard hours of work: Monday - Friday, 8:15-4:30 (office schedule)
